Spring Break 2012: We (Heart) OBX

We took a vacation last week - to the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  We were in love from the minute we got there.  Not one of us wanted to come home when it came time to leave.  It was the best vacation I've ever had.

Our oceanfront rental, about 100 yards from water's edge
Dolphin sighting within 30 minutes of our arrival -
about 8 dolphins in all, 2 that came within 50 yards of the beach

Evening storm - notice all our tracks on the sand, including
small tire tracks from Gideon's dump truck

North Carolina Aquarium at Roanoke Island
Wright Brothers National Memorial, Kill Devil Hills
The starting place for the historic first flight

Kite-flying
Sunrise
Jockey's Ridge Sand Dune
Wicked winds and a storm brought the tide to within
10 yards of the house our last evening there.  Water still covered most
of the beach the next morning as we left.

  1. The pictures are amazing! I cannot believe how gorgeous it is. Hope you're getting some rest. I'm still recovering...(in bed today and on antibiotics).
