Hershey, PA

The weekend of MLK Day was a 4-day weekend for our big school boy, so we took a family road trip to the birthplace of American chocolate - Hershey, Pennsylvania.

We ate dinner the first night at local brewery Troeg's, member of the Susquehanna Ale Trail.

We visited Hershey's World of Chocolate, where we learned how chocolate is made, what chocolate tastes like, and where we even got to design and bring home our own chocolate bar.

We toured the Indian Echo Caverns, where we experienced complete and total darkness for a brief few seconds.

We drove through famous Lancaster Country, home to a large Amish population.

Not surprisingly, Gideon has already asked to go back.  It was a good weekend.

  1. I admit: The visit to the Hershey factory seems really, really great!
