We have a Baby!

Our first glimpse of our Christmas blessing was one that brought tears of relief and joy to my ears.  My fear of seeing nothing moving at all was quickly quelled when we saw arms raising, leg buds wiggling and the faintest quick flutter of a heartbeat right in the middle.  The doctor declared everything just as it should be, although it seems I'm a week ahead of where I thought I was, so that makes me 10 1/2 weeks.

We could clearly make out the face of our baby, as you might be able to in the top photo - I was shocked and thrilled to see it so easily.  You can also see the little arm sticking up in the top photo as well.  In the bottom photo, taken from a further distance, you can see the little leg buds at the bottom of the torso.

Gideon watched the screen quietly, intently from Jeremy's arms and wondered aloud afterward about the tears silently running down my face.

I get to go back in two weeks - a gift from the doctor, who understands anxiety after a miscarriage - just to hear the heartbeat.

It was a good day.
