A Plug: Weekend Getaway

For the ladies, if you're in need of a weekend getaway, please consider Yoga in the Pines, nestled on thirty acres of piney woods north of Mineola, Texas.  The setting is far from austere and the weekend anything but ascetic.

There are four yoga sessions - one Friday (a restorative sequence the involves no standing), two on Saturday, and one Sunday morning.  Wine is served with dinner (and continues flowing far after the plates have been cleared away) and good coffee is served with breakfast.  Dinners are homemade on the premises by proprietress Theresa Polley; they're hearty affairs, including lots of veggies and meat.  In fact, there is always food out - bowls of nuts, dried fruits, dips, crackers and chocolate-covered treats.

You stay in Theresa's country home, a large, two-story rough-hewn log cabin (and adjacent living quarters, above which the studio sits) and you share rooms with other attendees.  Meals are served family-style.  Massages are available Saturday afternoon, or you can spend those free hours in historic downtown Mineola browsing antique stores, or simply lounge with a book in the hammock out back on the premises.

Theresa is a gracious hostess and loves sharing the little slice of heaven she happened into less than a decade ago with others.  She generously opens her home monthly to women of all walks of life and enjoys seeing them off on Sunday mornings looking much softer, much more relaxed, much happier than when they arrived in a flurry Friday evening.  Go meet her and let her share her home with you.  You won't regret it.

  1. I stumbled across a blog today I think you'll like called Art Asana. She combines art/creativity and yoga: http://elizalynntobin.blogspot.com/

I'm not really into yoga, but the retreat sounds very relaxing.
