The end of last week was a bit of a mess (more later), so we decided some sun and sand therapy was in order over the weekend.

Saturday morning we traversed what will be known in our house simply as "the big bridge" that crosses the mouth of the Patuxent River and connects St. Mary's County with neighboring Calvert County to the east.  There on Solomons Island, we played on "the little beach," walked the boardwalk, played on the playground and enjoyed a perfect morning.

And then Sunday afternoon, we engorged ourselves on favorite fair foods - corn dog, funnel cake, ice cream - at the St. Mary's County Spring Festival.  I joked with Jeremy as we exited the animal barn, "Where's our hand sanitizer?" (At petting zoos in the Metroplex, you cannot leave without being bombarded by attendants generously pumping out sanitizer.)  As I've said before, we may have moved to the east coast, but we are definitely in the country.  It's good to be back.

The outrageous prices we paid for that fair food were balanced by the bargains we found at the last hour fire sale at the "indoor yard sale" where we got a leather jacket, a box of Duplos, and a coffee mug for under a $1.50.  We were tired, sticky, and thirsty when we got back in the truck, but we were happy.

Really.

  1. Glad y'all had fun! I'm so jealous that you live so close to a beach- hopefully we will be able to visit sooner than later. I love the pic of Gideon...he looks so old!
